UNESCO cultural landscape of terraces, stone walls and settlements

Southern Ethiopia
Konso Cultural Landscape
Southern Ethiopia; Konso area between Arba Minch and Jinka corridors
About
Konso Cultural Landscape
Konso is a UNESCO-listed cultural landscape. Terraced agriculture, stone walls, traditional settlements and farming systems show how communities have shaped steep land over generations. The visit should explain that landscape story — not reduce the stop to photographing houses.
On The Southern Ethiopia Journey, Konso sits between Rift/highland days and the move toward Jinka and the Omo lowlands. Overnight in the Konso area, where possible in a setting that lets guests experience surrounding landscape rather than only a town room, deepens the stop. Konso is landscape as culture.
